CFP: “Communities” (Deadline: 15 September 2026)

The Royal Studies Network invites expressions of interest for several sessions and roundtables it hopes to propose for the Leeds International Medieval Congress, taking place 5–8 July 2027.

Proposals should explore the theme of “Communities” within the context of royal and monarchical studies. Submissions covering all periods and geographical areas of the long Middle Ages are welcome, as are studies of medievalism in literature and popular culture.

Potential topics include political, religious, ethnic, emotional, imagined, and textual communities; material culture; language and multilingualism; communities of knowledge and practice; commemoration and origin myths; and the projection and performance of communal identity.

Those interested in submitting a paper proposal on any of these themes—or others related to the broader topic—should send a 300-word abstract, a current one-page CV, and a one-paragraph introductory biography no later than 15 September 2026 to either:
