The Royal Studies Network and the Court Studies and Diplomacy Research Group, from the Centre for History of the University of Lisbon are delighted to launch a call for papers for our fourteenth annual Kings & Queens conference - “Beyond the King: Diplomacy, Social Roles and Family Dynamics in Monarchies”. The 2025 conference aims to remember Queen Leonor of Lancaster (1458-1525), on the 500th anniversary of her death. After ten years, the conference will be returning to Lisbon.

UPDATE (09.02.2025) - the following message is from the Organising Committee:
We are pleased to announce that acceptance emails have been sent to all participants and the programme will be available soon. The conference will take place at the Centre for History, University of Lisbon, from 2–5 June 2025, with an optional excursion to Óbidos and Caldas da Rainha on 6 June.

Registration will open in March. Participants requiring an official acceptance letter for travel or funding purposes can request one from the Organizing Committee.
